Sugar in drinks

No science unit should come without some proper lab work. The students in Y5 visited the Lab a number of times to discuss safety rules and materials available. Then they designed an experiment to discover the amount of sugar in drinks they usually have.

To be able to carry out this experiment, the students learnt how to use the Bunsen Burner and wrote a set of instructions that would remind them of the proper use.

Results were so compelling that students were really amazed. Especially when comparing the information on the nutrition facts labels with their findings.

One of the most observable behavioral changes in the kids was the great amount of  water intake instead of other sugary drinks.
